3 Key Highlights from the ivygo Charge 2515 Launch

The energy in Thirroul was electric this past Sunday—and not just because of the EVs.

We were proud to officially launch Charge 2515, ivygo’s first community-powered EV charging rollout, at the Go Electric Open Day—an event hosted by Electrify 2515 and Rewiring Australia at Club Thirroul.

The day was all about learning and community. Locals came together to explore what electrification could look like in their everyday lives—from switching to electric vehicles and induction cooktops to understanding solar and home batteries. For ivygo, it was a great opportunity to introduce our community-based solution and have real conversations about how peer-to-peer charging can help close the infrastructure gap—especially in regional and suburban areas like the Illawarra, where public chargers are still few and far between.

Here are three things we took away from the day:

1. Community is our power source

From the moment the doors opened, there was a steady stream of visitors to the ivygo booth—curious, thoughtful, and genuinely interested in how it all works.

We had meaningful conversations about sharing home chargers, how to set fair pricing, ways to earn a return on solar energy, and how peer-to-peer charging could fit into everyday routines.

People asked real, practical questions—and in return, gave us valuable feedback. Every one of those conversations helped us see what is landing well, what needs more explanation, and how people are thinking about EV charging in their own lives.

It was a strong reminder that ivygo belongs at this local level—listening, learning, and co-creating solutions with the communities we are here to support.

2. We can amplify our impact through partnerships

The success of ivygo depends on more than just technology—it is built on collaboration. And on the day, we were surrounded by incredible partners and supporters, each bringing their own experience, tools, and ideas to the conversation.

A big thank you to Sydney EV Chargers, Smappee, EVNEX, Uniden, Turo, Good Earth, Rewiring Australia, and the Australian EV Association for showing up, sharing their insights, and helping locals understand the bigger picture of electrification.

From helping residents navigate charger installation, to explaining the real benefits of switching to electric, to offering pricing guidance and making connections—these contributions play a key role in building local momentum. We are deeply grateful for the support and collaboration.

3. People care deeply about access and fairness

One theme came up again and again: people want EV charging to be simple, accessible, and fair.

It was encouraging to see how many locals—whether they already drive an EV or not—understood the need for more flexible charging options.

Our peer-to-peer model resonated with many who want to make better use of their home charger, solar energy, or business car parks—and who see the value in helping their neighbours go electric.

It’s clear that this community understands the bigger picture, and they’re ready to be part of the solution.

Celebrating Our Pioneers

Congratulations to the winner of our prize draw—and a big thank you for listing your charger on ivygo and supporting your local community in Bulli to drive electric.

Our prize on the day was a Uniden App Cam Solo 2K security camera, generously provided by our partner Uniden. It is a great fit for ivygo hosts, offering peace of mind with motion alerts and remote viewing—so you can keep an eye on your charger, whether you’re home or not.

We are excited to welcome our first new host in the 2515 area and look forward to growing the network from here, one connection at a time.

Thanks again to everyone who came by, asked questions, signed up, and supported the launch of Charge 2515. The Go Electric Open Day was a powerful reminder of what can happen when community, technology, and purpose come together.

We are just getting started—stay tuned as we continue to power up the Illawarra.
